EMERGED 1998 · WHAT IT GREW OUT OF GOA TRANCE, ACID TRANCE, HARD TRANCE, INDUSTRIAL · 4 TRACKS TO START WITH, 8 SOURCES

Dark psytrance is the heavy, distorted end of psytrance, starting around 150 BPM and running to about 165, with horror film samples where most psytrance uses science fiction ones. It is mostly instrumental, and its mood sits near dark ambient and industrial, from haunting Gothic textures to glitchy ones. Russia and Germany are named as its home, and Xenomorph's 1998 Cassandra's Nightmare is cited as an early influence.
