DEEP HOUSE
Deep house runs at about 110 to 125 BPM with muted basslines, spacious percussion, soft pads, advanced chord voicings and soulful vocals, favoring hypnotic repetition over big build-ups.[1] It began in 1980s Chicago as a blend of Chicago house with jazz-funk chords and a touch of soul, and Larry Heard's Can You Feel It? (1986) is widely seen as its blueprint.[1] Marshall Jefferson, Frankie Knuckles, Theo Parrish and Moodymann are among its names, and labels include Strictly Rhythm, Nu Groove and Om.[1]
