DISCO
Dance music built on Philadelphia soul and funk arrangements: four-on-the-floor drums, bass guitar, strings, horns, electric piano and muted jazz guitar.[1] David Mancuso threw the first Loft party in New York on 14 February 1970.[2] Manu Dibango's "Soul Makossa" (1972), which Mancuso introduced to the US at the Loft, is one disputed candidate for the first disco record.[2] Vince Aletti's Rolling Stone feature of September 1973 was among the first to write about disco as a sound.[1]
