On the drum and bass line between minimal dnb and atmospheric dnb. Grew out of hip hop.

HALFTIME
Halftime keeps drum and bass's weight but plays the drums at half pace, closer to a hip-hop beat; Alix Perez and Eprom of Shades describe it as a way out of the music's metronome rhythm.[1] UKF hears the pattern in Amit's and Digital's records around 2000.[2] It became a scene in the mid-2010s around Exit Records and Ivy Lab, whose 20/20 LDN night led to a label in 2015.[3][2]
