laptronica

1 TRACKS TO START WITH, 3 SOURCES

Laptronica is a loose tag for electronic music made and performed on laptop computers, not a style with fixed sound or a founding scene. A Phoenix New Times piece used it for one-person acts working with notebook computers on electronica ranging from hardcore breakbeats to ambient techno. Marc Weidenbaum argues that laptop music is a phenomenon more than a genre, with performances built around process and long improvisations. He cites Fennesz's Endless Summer (Mego, 2001) and Kid606's 2000 releases as examples.
