4-BEAT

The 4-beat strand of happy hardcore pairs a four-on-the-floor kick with piano rolls and uplifting vocals.[1] It grew from the UK breakbeat hardcore scene and Belgian, Dutch and German hardcore techno in the early 1990s, and by the end of 1994 it ran as its own scene beside jungle.[1] Slipmatt, Hixxy, Force & Styles and DJ Sharkey are among its names, and React's Bonkers compilations sold well in the mid-to-late 1990s.[1]
