COLDWAVE
A cold, synth-led strain of post-punk from France and Belgium, with less guitar, analogue experiments, military drums and a gloomy groove.[1] Crack calls Lyon its birthplace and Marquis de Sade its defining band, whose Dantzig Twist came out in 1979.[1] KaS Product, Martin Dupont and Asylum Party carried it through the 1980s, much of it on small labels and cassettes, and reissue compilations revived it in the 2000s.[1][2]
