COSMIC DISCO
Slow, synth-heavy club style from northern Italy, built around the Cosmic club in Lazise on Lake Garda, which opened in 1979.[1][2] Daniele Baldelli worked there until 1984, mixing disco and funk with African and Brazilian records, later adding punk, jazz and electronics, often at the wrong speed.[1][2] Typical tempos run 90 to 110 BPM.[1] Beppe Loda, resident at Typhoon, says he coined "Afro" for the sound in 1979.[1]
