DIGITAL HARDCORE

Digital hardcore is Alec Empire's Berlin cross of punk with techno and breakbeats, its digital sounds distorted on purpose like a garage punk recording.[1] Atari Teenage Riot began recording in late 1991 as an answer to racist attacks in Germany, and their first single, Hetzjagd auf Nazis, came out on Force Inc in early 1992.[1] Empire, a former punk guitarist, named both the style and his label Digital Hardcore Recordings, which from 1994 released his own records and those of EC8OR, Christoph de Babalon and Shizuo.[1][2]
