GARAGE HOUSE
Garage house developed alongside Chicago house in the early to mid 1980s in New York City and Newark, New Jersey.[1] It leans on gospel-influenced piano riffs and female vocals, giving it a more soulful, R&B-derived feel that sits closer to disco.[1] Larry Levan's sets at Paradise Garage were a major influence, and Visual's 1983 track "The Music Got Me" on Prelude Records was especially influential.[1]
