EMERGED 1996 · WHAT IT GREW OUT OF HI-NRG, UK HARD HOUSE, HARD TRANCE · 3 TRACKS TO START WITH, 1 SOURCES

Hard NRG, also called nu-NRG, is a faster and darker relative of UK hard house, running at about 155 to 165 bpm against roughly 150 to 155. It grew out of hi-NRG, UK hard house and Belgian techno, with German hard trance as a further influence. The name nu-NRG appeared around 1996 and 1997. Gritty Hoover-type synth lines, associated with the Roland Alpha Juno 2, are a signature.
