HARDSTEP
Hardstep was the stripped-down jungle of 1994 and 1995, putting the beats and bass ahead of the ragga vocal.[1] Grooverider named it in 1994, and Kickin' Records put out his Hardstep Selection compilation that year.[1] Renegade's Terrorist (Ray Keith, 1994) was its anthem and spread the Reese bassline that techstep later made standard.[1][2]
