JACKIN' HOUSE
The name comes from jacking, a torso-rolling dance move that appeared in Chicago house clubs such as the Warehouse, the Power Plant and Ron Hardy's Music Box in the early 1980s.[1] The word turned up in early house titles, including Chip E.'s "Jack Trax" EP (1985), Farley "Jackmaster" Funk's "Jack'n the House" (1985) and Steve "Silk" Hurley's "Jack Your Body" (1986).[1] As a sound it points back to 1980s house, with old-school samples, funk-like basslines and heavy repetition.[2]
