What isleftfield?

Leftfield is a loose tag from British music writing for electronic and dance records that sit outside the mainstream, drawing on house, techno, ambient, dub and breakbeat, rather than a scene with its own sound.[2] It shares its name with the London duo Leftfield, formed in 1989, but the term coined for their mix of house, dub and reggae was progressive house.[1]
