MAINSTREAM HARDCORE
Mainstream hardcore, also called mainstyle or nu style gabber, is the Dutch hardcore that came back in the early 2000s, slower and more aggressive than mid-1990s gabber, with melodies and film or rap vocals over the kick.[1][2] After the gabber boom collapsed at the end of the 1990s, DJ Promo's slower, darker Promo Files EPs (1998 to 1999) pointed to a new scene.[3][4] From 2001 hardcore grew again: Angerfist debuted on a Masters of Hardcore compilation, Enzyme Records was founded, and in this second wave Masters of Hardcore and B2S took over from Thunderdome as the big events.[2][3]
