EMERGED 1995 · WHAT IT GREW OUT OF GOA TRANCE, PSYCHEDELIC TRANCE · 2 TRACKS TO START WITH, 6 SOURCES

Suomisaundi, Finnish for Finnish sound, is a melodic free-form psytrance traced to Finland in the mid 1990s and to Goa parties run by collectives such as Ruskababa, Smooth Underground and Löyhä. Its tracks mix acid trance, funk and breaks with video game noises, speech samples and a self-mocking humour. Texas Faggott and Squaremeat are named as pioneers. Exogenic Records, in 1997, was the first label to focus on it.
