TRIP HOP
Slow, heavy breakbeats under soul vocals and dub bass, made around Bristol from the early 1990s.[2] Massive Attack's Blue Lines (1991) set the template, with Portishead following.[1][2] Mixmag's Andy Pemberton coined the name in June 1994, first for DJ Shadow's "In/Flux" on Mo' Wax, a London label that sat alongside Ninja Tune in the scene.[1]
