2-STEP
UK garage with the steady four-on-the-floor kick broken up: syncopated kicks skip beats and the rest of the percussion shuffles, usually under mostly female vocals.[1] Pirate stations such as Freek FM and Rinse FM drove it, and it peaked commercially between 1999 and 2001.[1] Spotify's genre system groups Artful Dodger, Oxide & Neutrino and Wookie under it.[2]
