ACID JAZZ
London club music that set jazz, funk and soul records against hip-hop and dance beats, rooted in the rare groove crowd.[1] Gilles Peterson and Eddie Piller started the Acid Jazz label in East London in 1987, and Galliano's single was its first release.[2] The Brand New Heavies signed after 1989 and Jamiroquai debuted on the label in 1992, while the sound spread to the US, Japan and Europe.[1][2]
