BALEARIC BEAT
Named for Ibiza, where DJ Alfredo built Amnesia sets that put house beside Mediterranean pop, bossa nova and Europop.[1] Paul Oakenfold, Trevor Fung and Ian St. Paul brought the idea to London in 1987, and Oakenfold's Spectrum night in 1988 reached a wider crowd.[1] DJs such as Nancy Noise, who spent two summers in Ibiza clubs, took the anything-goes attitude into London nights like The Future.[2]
