AMBIENT
Brian Eno gave the music its name in the liner notes to Ambient 1: Music for Airports, which asks that it be as ignorable as it is interesting.[2] He set it against the canned music of firms like Muzak, saying it should leave calm and room to think.[2] The history usually points back to Satie's furniture music, musique concrète and minimalist drone.[1]
