DARK AMBIENT
Dark ambient took shape in Europe in the mid-1980s out of industrial music, with Lustmord among the first to make it consistently.[1] The name Cold Meat Industry, a label founded in 1987 by Roger Karmanik, later became shorthand for avant-garde acts influenced by industrial and dark ambient.[2] Lustmord's 1990 album Heresy, on Soleilmoon, was built from recordings made in crypts, caverns, mines and catacombs.[3]
