BOUNCY TECHNO
Bouncy techno was the hardcore of Scotland and northern England in the mid-1990s: a distorted, bouncing kick with off-beat stabs and rolling pianos, played where breakbeats never caught on.[1] Scott Brown's Bass X track Hardcore Disco (1993) and Ultra-Sonic's Annihilating Rhythm set the template, and Rezerection was its biggest rave.[2][1] Through Paul Elstak the sound reached Rotterdam, where it fed Dutch happy hardcore, and Scooter's Hyper Hyper drew on Ultra-Sonic.[2]
