BREAKBEAT
Electronic music built on drum breaks lifted from funk, jazz and R&B records, with the Amen break among the most sampled.[2] Tempos span about 110 to 175 BPM, wide enough for DJs to blend it with many other styles.[2] The electronic form took shape in the late 1980s in the US and UK, after hip hop DJs such as Kool Herc began looping funk breaks in 1973.[2]
