BREAKBEAT HARDCORE
The London end of early 1990s rave: house and techno beats under sped-up hip hop breakbeats, bleeps, ragga chat and samples taken from anything, often by teenagers with an Akai sampler.[1][2] Labels such as Reinforced, Production House, Moving Shadow and Suburban Base carried it.[1][2] From 1992 the scene split: its dark side became darkcore and then jungle, which later renamed itself drum and bass, while the piano side became happy hardcore.[3][4][5] A 2000s revival, hardcore breaks, brought the sound back at about 145 to 155 BPM.[5]
