BREAKCORE
Breakcore cuts jungle breakbeats with noise at 200 BPM and more, sampling anything from ragga and dancehall to metal and pop.[1] Alec Empire says listeners first called his fast, sliced breakbeats breakcore in the early 1990s, before he named his sound digital hardcore.[2] Labels founded from about 1994, among them Praxis, Digital Hardcore, Drop Bass Network and Bloody Fist, built the scene, and DJ Scud's tracks gave it a template.[1] Later names include Venetian Snares, Bong-Ra and Shitmat, with parties such as Bangface in London.[3][1]
