On the downtempo line between balearic beat and downtempo. Grew out of ambient house (ambient line).

CHILLOUT
The name comes from the White Room at Heaven in London in 1989, where DJs played ambient mixes so dancers could rest from faster music.[1] On Ibiza, José Padilla's sunset sets at Café del Mar mixed dub, downtempo, lounge and ambient, and the result came to be called chillout.[2] The KLF's album Chill Out (1990) gave the idea a record to point to.[1]
