CHILLWAVE
Hazy, home-recorded synth pop that looks back to late-1970s and early-1980s pop, centred on Brooklyn and the US east and south coasts.[1] The name came from the blog Hipster Runoff in July 2009, the year of the so-called Summer of Chillwave.[1][2] Washed Out, Neon Indian and Toro y Moi are the best-known acts, with Panda Bear's 2007 Person Pitch cited as a precursor.[1]
