DUB
Jamaican engineers began stripping the vocals from reggae records in the late 1960s and selling the instrumental versions as B-sides.[1] King Tubby, working from his own studio in Kingston, played the mixing desk like an instrument, dropping parts in and out under echo and reverb.[2] Blackboard Jungle Dub (1973), made by Lee Perry with Tubby, is counted among the first dub albums.[2]
