DUBSTEP
South London sound of the early 2000s that grew out of 2-step garage and dub: heavy sub-bass and sparse syncopated drums at about 140 BPM, mostly instrumental.[1] The Forward>> club night began in 2001, Big Apple Records in Croydon and Tempa were early labels, and Digital Mystikz opened the DMZ night in Brixton in March 2005.[1][2]
