GQOM
Gqom is a raw, minimal and repetitive club sound with heavy bass, and it typically drops the four-on-the-floor kick of most house.[1] It emerged in the early 2010s in Durban, South Africa, drawing on techno, kwaito, maskandi and afro house.[1] Naked Boyz, Rudeboyz and DJ Lag are credited as pioneers, while Babes Wodumo, DJ Tira and Okmalumkoolkat helped it reach international audiences.[1]
