MEGA FUNK
Mega funk is an arena-sized branch of funk carioca, the style that began in Rio de Janeiro's favelas in the 1980s.[1][2] It runs roughly 130 to 150 BPM, with 808 bass, hi-hat rolls, brass stabs and chanted call-and-response vocals over dense layers of samples.[1] It formed in the late 2000s and early 2010s as producers in Rio and Sao Paulo piled on heavier bass and glossier electronic textures.[1]
