NEUROFUNK
Neurofunk grew out of techstep in the late 1990s, keeping its dark mood but with cleaner mixes and basslines that keep changing tone.[1][2] Simon Reynolds named it in The Wire at the end of 1997, and Optical's To Shape the Future on Metalheadz that year is often called its first record.[1] Ed Rush and Optical's Virus label and their album Wormhole (1998), and Bad Company's The Nine (1998), set its course.[1][2]
