POST-PUNK

Rock made in Britain after punk's first wave by bands who kept its do-it-yourself spirit but pulled in krautrock, dub, funk, disco and free jazz.[1] Sounds magazine named it 'New Musick' in November 1977, and the first singles followed in 1978 from Magazine, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Public Image Ltd and Gang of Four.[1] Rough Trade and Factory became its label hubs, and Simon Reynolds dates the period from 1978 to 1984.[1][2]
