NO WAVE
Abrasive, atonal music from New York's Lower East Side, with screamed or spoken vocals and little use for rock chords, melody or song structure.[1] The scene formed around 1977, drew on free jazz, minimalism and performance art, and was largely over by summer 1980.[1][2] Brian Eno's 1978 compilation No New York on Antilles collected four of its bands: the Contortions, Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, Mars and DNA.[3]
