GOTHIC ROCK
Post-punk turned dark and theatrical, with deep vocals, tribal drums and echoing guitar.[1] It came out of England in the late 1970s: Bauhaus's Bela Lugosi's Dead (1979) is usually taken as the starting point, and In the Flat Field (1980) as the first goth album.[1] The Cure's Seventeen Seconds, Faith and Pornography set it further, and UK Decay's Steve Abbott is believed to have first called the music goth.[1]
