ISOLATIONISM
Kevin Martin coined the term in a musical sense, and it first appeared in print in The Wire in September 1993.[1] He described the music as fragmented and subdued, music that "pushed away" listeners.[1] His 1994 double CD Ambient 4: Isolationism, on Virgin, collected new tracks by Jim O'Rourke, Thomas Köner, Zoviet France, Lull and Final, among others.[1]
