LOWERCASE
Steve Roden used the word lowercase for his own quiet work from the mid-1980s, and told The Wire's Rob Young so in 1997.[1] By 2001 it was the working label on an online list called lowercase-sound, where artists kept arguing over its rules.[1] Roden's Forms of Paper, a 54-minute piece of handled paper made for a Los Angeles library branch, became the exemplary record, and lowercase-sound2002 followed with Taylor Deupree, Stephan Mathieu and Toshimaru Nakamura.[1][2][3]
