HOUSE
House is built on a four-on-the-floor kick at roughly 115 to 130 BPM, with drum machines such as the TR-808 and TR-909, deep synth basslines and looped samples from disco, soul and funk.[1] It came out of Chicago's underground club scene in the early to mid 1980s, especially among Black and gay dancers, with Frankie Knuckles at the Warehouse a central figure.[1] Trax Records and DJ International carried it beyond the city, and Steve Silk Hurley's Jack Your Body reached number 1 in the UK in January 1987.[1][2]
